COVID-19 general policies

Karmel Covenant Church is dedicated to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all who participate in the life of the church. We ask that the congregation partner with us and monitor themselves and those in their immediate family for signs of illness prior to attending programs or services at Karmel Covenant Church.

The following guidelines have been adopted by the church board:


  • Weekly cleaning of the church will include disinfecting all surfaces in bathrooms and the kitchen as well as doorknobs and commonly used surfaces.
  • Bottles of cleaning solution will be provided to those in individual rooms and people are asked to wipe down surfaces and doorknobs in the rooms they use.


  • Pursuant to Governor Walz Executive Order 20-81, Minnesotans are required to wear a face covering in an indoor business or public indoor space, including when waiting outdoors to enter an indoor business or public indoor space.
  • Pursuant to order 20-81 if you are exempt from wearing a face covering you do not need to disclose why you are exempt. If you are exempt then you are welcome to worship with us.
  • We encourage no handshaking, hugging, or other contact especially by greeters or ushers.
  • Greeters or ushers are asked to hold main doors open to reduce contact with door handles.
  • Signs will be posted regarding no contact and to remind people to maintain 6 foot distance.
  • Leaders (especially board members) are to encourage people to follow the guidelines
  • Individuals who develop symptoms or come into contact with a symptomatic individual are to follow the "KCC Wellness Policy."


  • Our Facebook Live service will continue to be available on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am and be available later in the day on our website.
  • When there is communion, there will be individual cups for the bread and juice. Servers will wear masks. Preparation of the table will be done with masks and gloves. People will be instructed on the process and asked to practice social distancing while in line.
  • Nursery, Early Childhood, and Children's Church will not be resuming at this time.
  • People defined as “vulnerable” by the CDC are encouraged to stay home and view services online.
  • There will be no “hand offs” of microphones during services and they will be wiped down after each service. 
  • People are are asked to enter the sanctuary from the main front door or the northwest double doors and are asked not to mingle inside the narthex.
  • Offering plates will be available as you enter the sanctuary. Online giving is highly encouraged.
  • Bulletins will be available at the entrance to the sanctuary. Announcements and Music will be projected.
